Virtual Realms initially released a marketing blurb on their website for Warhammer Odyssey. It was short, but I'm going to take a look at it and see what it can tell us about what to expect from the game.

This puts it somewhere after the Age of Three Emperors. Seeing that they are saying that "doomsayers take to the city streets and those creatures who would bring the walls of man crumbling down" leads me to believe that it is set after the War Against Chaos. After this war, there were several years of peace. Colleges of Magic were established by the High Elves, and order was brought to the land by Magnus the Pious which lasted 65 years until his death in 2369 IC. It is regarded as the happiest period of time during the Empire since Sigmar's rule.
The reason I put this after 2369 IC, is:
- High Elf Archmages are a class, which could be explained by the Colleges of Magic
- Doomsayers are telling of an ebbing of the rule of man. This tell me that there is currently peace in the land, but that is being challenged by the forces of Chaos. Which means that it is after the rule of Magnus.
Lets take a closer look and see what else we can find.
We start the adventure in Marienburg, which is the largest trading hub and capital of the Wasteland. It seceded from the Empire in 2429 IC. Also the Colleges of Magic were reestablished in 2430 IC. The next time that the forces of Chaos rose up to threaten the Empire is "The Storm of Chaos" in 2521 IC.
So this would put our adventure starting somewhere between 2430 and 2521 IC, leading up to The Storm of Chaos.
One more thing to note is that in 2519, "The Twin-Tailed Comet reappears in the sky, seen by many as an omen." Following what Virtual Realms wrote about the doomsayers, having an omen of this magnitude appear would certainly point to our adventure starting in 2519.

With the rising of each Chaos Moon, Daemon legions march out of Xahutec once more. Only the eternal vigilance of the Saurus warriors maintains a blockade around the cursed ruin, but the bitter fighting costs many lives. Boris Todbringer loses his right eye to Khazrak. Drycha frees Coeddil from his prison. Archaon is crowned the new Everchosen by Be'Lakor.
If this is all true, we can expect to see lots of action leading up to The Storm of Chaos. Hope to see you there!
